The days that are filled with so much hope…..what happens to them?

The days that are filled with so much hope…..what happens to them?

Why is it that those days/weekends that you look forward to most & pin your hopes on, turn out just damn pants?!

It’s bank holiday weekend here in the UK, so no Monday work for us. Whoop! The weekend offered so much promise; a bit of gardening, DIY, the kids being full of the joys of spring behaving like model children – you know the deal.

However, Mabel & Albie have been ‘on one’ all day. Luckily Oscar has gone to a birthday party & a sleep over so I can’t tarr him with the same brush! We’ve had tears & full on tantrums all day & frankly I can’t wait until bedtime! The first tantrum of the day came from Mabel & this is a regular one for her. Mabel is terrible at drinking & we always insist on her drink with breakfast is water after that she can have (weak) squash. Mabel has a full on melt down about not wanting to have the cup of water despite the fact that EVERY FLAMMING DAY we say the saaaaame thing. James then took the kids to get a birthday present for the birthday party Oscar was going to. During the shopping trip James was taking them to buy a fidget spinner (don’t get me started on those things!) as they had broken/lost theirs. James said that they were wonderful in the shop, polite & patient. However, on the way home Mabel decided that she didn’t like her fidget spinner anymore, she liked Oscar’s. Again, cue tears & tantrums for what felt like hours. Argh! Albie’s day has been of a similar script.

Why is it that whenever you look forward to some family time together be it an afternoon or a holiday, it has  he habit of turing out quite the opposite to what you’d hoped?

Anyway, tomorrow is another day & all that! I’m off to have a medicinal Gin & Tonic. Cheers 🍸
